Mystical Morocco with

Heather & Abby

May 15-25, 2025

You're invited to unplug guilt-free with a joy-filled, fun-loving, adventurous crew. This is a never-before-offered specially curated 11-day adventure exploring Morocco. Intentional white space is built into the agenda for self-discovery and impromptu fun. You'll come home rejuvenated, and inspired, and have clarity on how to squeeze every last drop of fun out of life's journey.

Abdul, the owner of a jewelry shop in Marrakesh, offered us the popular Moroccan Whiskey... aka mint tea when we visited his shop for the first time. Such a sweet man with a beautiful smile warmed our hearts from the moment we met him.

You will be welcomed with open arms from the moment you are met at the airport by our private guides who will be with us the entire trip.

Be prepared to be immersed in the culture at every turn.

Experience the beauty, history, and culture as we embark on an 11-day adventure that begins in Marrakech.

Then you're whisked away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist hot spots and will meander through the small towns where all the locals live and get to have lunch with the nomads.

And of course a trip to Morocco would not be complete without sandboarding, 4-wheeling, taking a camel ride and enjoying the expansive night sky in the Sahara Desert.

Professional photo session (included in the trip) is a perfect way to to capture the once in a lifetime experience in the Sahara.

Now I Lay Me Down

To Sleep...

While many who explore Morocco choose 3-star hotels, we're gonna live the bougie Moroccan life with upgraded 4-star accomodations.

I've found the sweet spot to be 9-12 adventurers (I've hosted up to 20) provides a more intimate experience... one that we can adjust on the fly to curate even more incredible memories.

This group size also allows for more unique lodging options in Riads where owners exceed our expectations with accommodations and service.

Here's just one of the Riads we will be staying at during our trip.

Heck yeah, I'm ready for an unplugged adventure.

Feed Me...

Your taste buds will not be bored. You'll enjoy traditional and super popular Moroccan meals like tajines (which you'll learn to make in a cooking class) and couscous which is most commonly prepared with lamb or chicken.

In addition we'll be visiting areas on the coast which are famous for fresh seafood... from octopus (fun fact, 70% of all Octopus is found in the oceans near Morocco), sole fillet, oysters, mackerel, sardines and more.

There is a wide variety of fresh fruits and veggies available as well such as the tower of finely chopped veggies (shown) that was served at a small riad in Mirleft.

And bread... if you're a carb lover, my oh my you'll love Morocco. Khobz (most common round bread), Msemmen, Batbout, Beghrir, and more is served at every meal and snacks in between.

Our Itinerary

May 15th- The Adventure Begins

Most guests from the USA will be flying to Marrakech on May 14th or May 15th to arrive on May15th when the tour officially begins. If you're flying from anywhere else in the world, make sure you arrive on May 15th.

One of our tour guides will meet you at the Marrakech airport on May 15th.

If your flight arrives early enough on May 15th, after getting settled into your room, you'll be able to enjoy a luxurious hammam bath experience at the brand new spa in the riad where we are staying.. If you do not wish to have a hammam bath, you will be able to relax as you wish.

(If you plan to arrive in Morocco before May 15th to explore on your own, you are more than welcome to do so. Transportation to the riad on May 15th would be at your own expense.)

Dinner and accommodation at a beautiful riad in Marrakech.

May 16th-Marrakech

Rise and shine, if you want! We have arranged an optional activity (extra cost) for those adventure lovers. You can choose to start your day early in the morning to enjoy a hot-air balloon ride at sunrise overlooking Marrakesh and a beautiful view of the Atlas Mountains. Traditional Moroccan breakfast will be served at the conclusion of our ride.

Once we return to our riad, our private English speaking guide will meet us and take us to uncover Marrakech and its treasures for you. He will pick you up at 11 AM at your riad. It is inspired to start with the Bahia Palace and nearby, the ruins of the Badi'a, guarded by the storks. Next door, the imposing marble columns of the golden dynasty , the Saadis, adorn the mausoleums. The small yet very richly decorated Douiria is a fine example of crafts and architecture from two centuries ago. Lunch is included in this tour.

Across the souks, Medersa Ben Youssef koranic school will awe you with its intricate stucco engravings as well as the Quobba Almoravide, the oldest still-standing structure in the city.

Accommodation as per the previous night. Dinner on your own and we will be there to recommend the best places.

May 17th- Draa Valley

Take on the High Atlas mountains and cross them at 2200 meters high. Shortly after the pass, take the off-road and reach Pasha's ruined palace and the salt mines of Telouet. Follow the dramatic canyon of Ounila while on the other side of the canyon, the troglodyte grottos can be glimpsed in the distance.

Stop and wander around UNESCO world site Ait Ben haddou citadel. right after leaving Ait Ben haddou behind, the road skirts through desolate arid landscapes. Soon after, the road climbs, twists and turns its way up into the bare dark brown mountains, before breaking through the scarp at the pass of Tizi n'Tinififft and descending onto the lush palm-grove of Agdz.

Right after the pass you catch a first glimpse of the valley and the oases, the green swath of palms snaking up into the haze bordered by the Kasbahs, adobe guardians rising as if from the earth where the green gives way to the desert. There is no road sign but somehow you become aware you have entered a different land, Le Grand Sud.

We will stop at Tamnougalt and roam through the eerie kasbah before crossing over the palm grove and stopping to see a small untouched community of Harratin, likely descendants from traded slaves.

Dinner and accommodation in a Hotel at the heart of the Draa Valley.

May 18th & 19th- Erg Chigaga Desert

May 18th- After breakfast, discover the nearby village of Amezrou and its Jewish heritage - the old adobe synagogue and the silver jewelry craft. Further on, the stoves of Tamegroute cast the emerald glaze so easily identified on mosque tiles, dishes and pots across Morocco. The nearby Nassiriya library holds a 10 century old gold- engraved Koran and various treaties on astronomy, medicine and Arab poetry among other gems.

Before leaving the tarmac behind and taking on the Sahara, we will visit a traditional ksour and having lunch with a local family. From Mhamid, across various types of desert, you will reach the dunes of Erg Chigaga before sunset.

Dinner and accommodation in a private basic or luxury tent with ensuite shower and toilets.

May 19th- Today is a day full of offloading in the Sahara Desert. Leave the camp after breakfast and then drive to explore the tallest dunes and the different terrains of the Sahara desert. Lunch is included today and it will be planned in a beautiful shady oasis in the middle of the Sahara.

There may be time to sandboard or ride 4-wheelers in the desert. In the early evening , enjoy a camel ride to the top of the dunes for a magical sunset.

Dinner and fire-side music.

Overnight at the Sahara desert camp once more.

May 20th- Taroudant

Wake up to admire the sunrise and stroll around the dunes. Later on, you will take on the hamada ( rocky desert ) and cross the dry lake Iriki.

Have tea with the nomads, pry out fossils and later join the tarmac again at Foum Zguid.

Have a tasty lunch by the pool at Bab Rimal or opt for the more formal choice of a kefta in the village. Take the route west and soon reach the village of Tazenakht, very famous for its huge selection of Berber rugs and it's the destination of different merchants who sell rugs in different other Moroccan cities.

Reach Taroudant at the end of the afternoon. Dinner and accommodation in a beautiful hotel.

May 21st & 22nd- Mirleft

May 21st

After breakfast, have a caleche ride around the city walls and/ or browse the souks for the best Argan oil or honey in Morocco. Or, arrive rather early in Mirleft to make the best out of your time there. You don't have to plan anything ahead but rather decide on the day. Leave Taroudant and head to the Atlantic coast.

Stop at the Souss Massa National Park to explore the coastal wilderness and fantastic bird-watching opportunities. Lunch in the village of Massa or picnic at the park. R

each Mirleft early afternoon, drop your luggage off and rest to then go out and take a walk at the beach of Imi N Targa and enjoy the most amazing sunset.

Dinner and accommodation in a hotel in Mirleft.

May 22nd

Leave Mirleft after breakfast. The picturesque road from Mirleft to Legzira and then further to Sidi Ifni goes through the mountains, then crosses the wide valleys. Legzira is only 10 km south of Mirleft on the rocky coast. It is famous for its huge red-orange colored arches carved by the ocean in coastal cliffs. The place is still not particularly known to the general public, but well known among surfers and paragliders.

Picnic at the beach or a café. Sidi Ifni is a little coastal town with an interesting history and eclectic Moorish Art Deco architecture. It was the last Moroccan city surrendered by Spain in 1969. It was called Santa Cruz de la MarPequeña and was kept under Spanish control even after Moroccan independence in 1956.

Spain resisted a series of Moroccan attacks to take the territory in the Ifni War of 1957–58. It eventually ended in 1969. There is no special tourist infrastructure here, but you can walk in the old Spanish Town.

Dinner at a restaurant of your choice. Accommodations as per the previous night.

May 23rd- Essaouira

May 23rd- After breakfast, leave Mirleft and stop to see the city of Tiznit, famous for all the silver work. drive for another hour to reach Agadir and take a nice walk along the bay. follow that by a tasty seafood lunch.

Later, drive along the Atlantic coast to Essaouira and admire the goats up in the trees as you approach the wind city.

Dinner and accommodation in a riad in the Medina.

May 24th- Marrakech

Today is an easy day, and we will decide earlier in the trip how we can to spend our day. We can spend more time in Essaouira and take a surf lesson or wine tasting. The other option is to drive straight to Marrakech after breakfast and get there by noon so that you can make the best of your time there and maybe go for some last-minute shopping at the Medina.

Accommodation in a Hotel downtown. Dinner on your own.

May 25th- Fly Home

Depending on your flight, your drivers will be there to take you to the airport two-three hours before your flight. End of the tour.

YOLO BABY!

Abby, a New Orleans native, free-spirited entrepreneur and single mother of three who has embraced life as an empty nester by reigniting her passion for solo backpacking. After successfully raising her children, Abby decided to seize the opportunity to rediscover the exhilaration of traveling independently, reminiscent of her adventurous 20s.

Upon college graduation, now armed with a B.A. in Art Communications, Abby embarked on a three-month backpacking journey across Europe, exploring 10 countries along the way. Now, in this exciting new chapter of her life, she has ventured from Italy to Portugal, traversed through Budapest, delved into the Balkans, and journeyed thru the Greek Islands en route to Turkey and most recently Bulgaria—all while immersing herself in the vibrant hostel culture.

Inspired by the encouragement of those following her journey, Abby organized a Photography Retreat in Morocco for a group of fellow enthusiasts, further fueling her love for exploration and cultural exchange. YOLO BABY!!!

A Few Of My

Favorite Things...

Some additional pics of a few of the fun activities on this trip.

Sahara Desert

As we rode our camels, nearing the edge of our camp, tears streamed down my face as I watched the cotton candy sunset kiss the horizon and say goodbye to the day and the evening begin to greet us.

It was such a profound 'pinch me' kind of moment that I will never forget.

When you find yourself in moments like this, you can't help but thank God for all the blessings in your life and be inspired to do more, love hard and give more generously.

Are you ready to experience the internal transformation you feel from your time in the Sahara Desert?

Relaxation

There are multiple times throughout the trip where you can enjoy spa treatments such as hammam baths (this is a MUST!), facials, massages, pedicures, etc.

Enjoy a complimentary hammam bath during our trip that will leave your skin feeling as soft as a baby's bottom. Try it once and I know it won't be your last!

While in Essaouira, you'll have time to do a full spa day if you want. It's your vacation- we can make it happen!

Hot Air Balloon Ride

Float above Marrakech in a hot air balloon to enjoy amazing views of Berber villages, desert oases, deep valleys, and the front of the High Atlas mountains.

The different colors of the diversified landscape at sunrise will leave you breathless.

This is a completely optional activity (additional cost).

Soaking Up The Sun

While in Marrakech, if you want to enjoy a little more downtime (instead of the hot air balloon ride) you can choose to sit poolside and soak up the sun, read a book on your private poolside patio bed, or take a nap before the walking tour. The choice is yours.

Portrait Session

Commemorate this trip with a complimentary professional portrait session while in the Sahara Desert.

Pack your favorite outfit or wear one of the dresses I bring with me. It's a 'one size fits up to about US women's 14' (cause the whole idea of 'one size fits ALL is such a lie!). Men, you can wear whatever you want!

Feel beautiful, worthy and confident each time you look back at your favorite portrait that will be professionally printed for you., my gift to you. Your custom artwork allows you to relive this adventure anytime you want... an experience most people will never enjoy.

Souk Shopping

If you love to shop visit the souks inside the medina where you will find all the favorite Moroccan items... rugs, leather shoes and bags, silver jewelry, spices, argan oil, and more.

Even if you're not looking for anything special, it's fun to experience the labyrinth maze of all the alleys of shops.

The shop owners are EAGER to show you what they have for sale. If you're not interested, your favorite phrase will be 'La Shukran' (no thank you).

FAQ

Where Do I Fly Into?

You will fly into Marrakech, Morocco to begin the adventure on May 15, 2025. One of our tour guides will meet you at the airport and transfer you to our hotel. You'll have time (depending on your arrival time) to relax before dinner. You'll also fly out of Marrakech on May 25, 2025..

Can You Accommodate Dietary Restrictions?

Yes, we’re happy to say there are plenty of food options in Morocco. Please clearly state any allergies and intolerances you have, along with your dietary preferences on the trip planning forms when we send them to you. If you have any questions about the foods being served, our local tour guides will be available to assist.

I Need A Roommate. How Do I Arrange That?

If you would like to be matched with a roommate, please let us know, and we’ll do our best to pair you with someone else who is also seeking a roommate. Then you’ll have a chance to meet and get to know your roomie before the trip. In case there is no one to pair you with, your room will be considered a single, and an additional single occupancy supplement will be added to your retreat fee.

Do I Need Travel Insurance?

No, however travel insurance that includes trip cancellation and medical coverage is always recommended.

Will I Have Internet Access?

Yes.... with a possible exception to our time in the desert where you may be completely 'off the grid'. Free wi-fi is widely offered at restaurants and hotels/riads. If you want to communicate with family while you're traveling, WhatsApp allows you to text and make calls without paying for an international cellular plan.

What Do I Pack?

Comfortable, casual, and laid-back is perfect for this adventure.  Mornings and evenings can be cool, while many days I end up in a tee shirt or tank. Dressing in layers is also a good way to protect yourself from the sun. I got a slight sunburn just from our time in the vehicle one day. After you say yes to the adventure, you'll receive an entire planning guide that includes a packing list.

Is This Entire Itinerary Final?

Yes... and no. The cities we visit as well as most activities will not change. AND.... because these are custom trips, we have the luxury to make adjustments on the fly.

For instance, on one trip we chose to skip the day tour and sit poolside all day instead. And that evening we planned to eat at the riad but our tour guides then invited us to their home to enjoy a home-cooked meal. Totally unplanned and wonderful.

Utilize this itinerary as a guide but do NOT expect us to follow it 100%. Sometimes we do. Sometimes we adjust. Adjustments may be necessary (I.e closures) or done to create a greater experience.
